Update from Philips Respironics

As many of you are aware by now, Philips Respironics had a voluntary recall on many of their CPAP machines and equipment due to harmful degradation. They recently gave an update on their expectations for the lawsuit, their market placement, and their statement on how ozone cleaning products affected their own CPAP equipment.

According to their discussion with HME News, Philips Respironics expects a full market recovery after the discovery that led to the recall. If this happens, this will help prevent a market monopoly for their main competitor, ResMed.

As far as the complaints of personal injury from the use of their CPAP machines, Philips Respironics states it’s too early to confirm the validity of these statements and claims. Further testing is required to draw significant conclusions.

They also discussed their own testing on the effects of ozone cleaners on their products. They stated that using ozone sanitizing products caused the degradation to accelerate up to 40% faster. They went so far as to say that ozone sanitizing is a very aggressive method and should not be used on any medical device or equipment.

This can be scary for many CPAP users who have relied on ozone sanitizing products for years, but don’t let it deter you from finding a new sanitizing solution!

The LiViliti Paptizer provides ozone free and mercury free sanitizing for all of your CPAP equipment including masks, tubing, and water chambers! It kills up to 99.99% of bacteria, germs, and viruses in as little as three minutes.
