Helpful Tips For Cleaning Your Fur Babies Toys

It’s something pet parents don’t think about too often, but definitely should…cleaning and disinfecting their pets toys! Whether the fur babies are primarily inside or outside of the home, their mouths and paws are dirty all the same.  Dogs carry germs and bacteria in their mouths, which then get transferred to their toys when playing. Depending on the type of toy, it can keep moisture which is a breeding ground for germs. So not only is it important to regularly clean (about every 2 weeks) the toys to get rid of dirt and grime, but also disinfect them to eliminate bacteria and germs.

Here are some helpful tips for cleaning and disinfecting your fur babies toys:

For hard, rubber, or plastic toys: Because you don’t want to use toxic cleaners on the items that will be going into your pet’s mouth, it’s best to use natural products.  For best results, soak your toys in a sink or tub of equal parts warm water and vinegar for 15 minutes.  For extra grimey toys, you can sprinkle a little baking soda and scrub down with an old toothbrush. Once cleaned, rinse with warm water and set them out on a towel to dry.

For soft, plush, or rope toys: It’s best to throw these in the washing machine on a regular cycle, warm water, using a natural detergent or vinegar. Once they are clean, put them in the dryer on low heat, or for more delicate toys, hang them out to dry in the sun.

Cleaning is good and necessary but disinfecting your pets toys is equally important. Once they have been cleaned and dried, take the extra few minutes and throw them in the LiViliti Paptizer.
