Cleaning & Sanitizing CPAP Tubing

According to ResMed, a leading CPAP equipment provider, CPAP device tubing, headgear, masks, and water chambers should be cleaned regularly to avoid the buildup of particles, bacteria, and germs.

Today, we are going to cover how to best clean and sanitize your CPAP tubing. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when cleaning the machine’s equipment.

It is recommended to clean your tubing at least once a week, and more often if you are experiencing any type of illness. Cleaning the tubing only takes a few minutes and can help prevent serious illness or symptoms of respiratory distress becoming more severe.

To ensure the tubing is cleaned properly, you will want to mix a mild, non-scented soap (see our blog here for homemade cleaning solutions) with warm water in a sink or clean plastic tub. Wash the outside of the tubing with a clean microfiber cloth, and make sure the soapy water runs through the inside of the tubing. Rinse the tubing with warm, drinking-quality water until there are no more bubbles inside or outside the tubing. Place the tubing on a flat surface and let air dry.

While cleaning is crucial to keeping your tubing safe to use, it is also important to sanitize. The LiViliti Paptizer was designed to get rid of up to 99.9% of bacteria and germs that may remain after washing your CPAP supplies! After following the steps above, place the tubing in the Paptizer, press the Fast Sanitize option, and in just three minutes, your tubing is safe and ready to use again!

Unlike other CPAP sanitizers, the Paptizer doesn’t use any harmful chemicals to sanitize the products, and there is no waiting period after using the Paptizer for any of your items!
